The light has gone from my life RIP Angus

I lost Angus on 1/11/11 he was 14 and a half and he was my soulmate, I was the centre of his universe and I have never felt so loved by a living thing.

He had to be put to sleep when he fight became too much after a year fighting the battle against bladder cancer he was struck down by 3 more life threatening conditions, cushings disease, diabetes and ketoacidosis. He fought a valiant battle for 2 weeks and just as it looked like he was turning a corner the life began to ebb away from him and we took the difficult decision to have him put to sleep, he died snuggling in my arms my tears falling on to his cloth ears and my voice telling him how much I loved him.

I always felt that when you held him he soaked up all the love and beamed it back thorugh his deep brown eyes.

Without him by my side as a constant companion I feel so completely lost, the pain is worse than any other loss I have experienced and has taken me totally by surprise.

His younger brother aged 7 is so sad and withdrawn and doesn't understand where his buddy has gone, the house is empty and silent.

When we try to interact with Alfie, he will play for a short while but then retreats to his den and has a little groan.

I hope in time the pain will subside and we can get back to being a happy family again but for now my heart aches for my real life teddy bear Angus.

Angus Morrison 10/05/97-01/11/11 RIP Fat belly hangus xxx

Im so sorry to read that your boy has gone to the bridge, he was a great age but it doenst make a difference how long youve had them in your family, loosing a family member is always heartbreaking. I hope that Alfie comes to terms with it soon and starts to love life again, (((hugs))) to you both.

i am very sorry for your loss it will take time and i know you dont even want to think about it yet but maybe in time you could consider getting another little doggie to for you and your other dog for company obviously another dog wont replace angus in any of your hearts but with time it may ease the pain. R.I.P. Little angus

Re: The light has gone from my life RIP Angus

So sorry for your loss.
It is heartbreaking loosing a pet. They are your family and when they go to the Bridge it is has devastating as loosing a human member of the family.
Wether you love a human or an animal love is just the same.
I agree with superash about when the time is right adopting again.
It will help you and Alfie with your bereavement and also will keep you busy and focused.
I have always adopted again sometimes a few months after. The last time is was about 4 weeks after.
You never forget the ones you lost as they or leave a paw print on your heart.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Angus, especially after his brave fight to beat all his illnesses for awhile.

Im sure Angus had a fantastic 14 years with you and knew he was much loved.
