R.I.P Mollie B

2 years ago we brought home a white boxer puppy Mollie as a friend and companion for our other boxer Ozzie.

Within a few days we knew something was wrong with her, despite being tested by the breeder she was deaf, did this make a difference to us, no way. Although it was hard having a deaf dog I wouldnt change a thing. We taught Mollie sign language and she was a real madam. Mollie was a constant shadow, everywhere I went she followed, If I sat down she would snuggle up behind me and put a paw on each shoulder and lay her head in the nape of my neck. When I came home from work she would be sat with her nose pressed against the glass.
Mollie developed syncope when she was 8 months old and although her first episode was awful to watch she was given medication which appeared at first to help. In the summer of 2010 Moliie started having fainting episodes every week and at first we were unaware of what damage was being caused. We now know that Mollie was loosing her sight with each episode and suffering brain damage too. During the summer Mollie started to turn on Ozzie who she had previoulsy relied on with no warning, he would walk past her and she would fly into a rage attacking him for no reason. We tried various drugs to try and calm her down but in October last year the vet said there is nothing more we can do, she is deaf, blind and would appear to have suffered some brain damage.
Many people have said to me, you should have taken her back to the breeder or you should have had her put to sleep sooner, perhaps I should but while there was a chance that she could be treated and had quality of life I couldnt do that.

I have no regrets apart from not being able to find a cure. She will always hold that special place in my heart

Re: R.I.P Mollie B

You did what you felt was right for Mollie. You have to give them a chance, I'd have done the same thing! I'm sorry for your loss. I am grieving too for my little Yorkie Bonnie who passed away 6 weeks ago today. I know how painful it is!!

Re: R.I.P Mollie B

I am so sorry for your loss.
You did your very best for Mollie and did what any loving pet owner would have done.
I hope Ozzie is alright I feel sure he realised that it was not her fault when she attacked him. Usually animals realise somethings wrong before we do.

R.I.P Mollie and run free at Rainbow Bridge xx
