Memories of Bella
I lost my beautiful Bella on the last day of September 2010. She was a gorgeous girl and I miss her forceful personality in the worst way. She was fourteen when she passed [misadventure at the vets IMHO] and was a delight to live with. I always called her my 'saviour' girl because we got her following the sad death of Mishka, my beloved lab boxer and her antics kept my then two elder ladies, mother and daughter tabbies Katie and Sasha, occupied and helped us all over Mishka's loss.
Bella was a special girl, really beautiful but a full on character. She was the terror of other local cats and quite tyrannical over who she would allow in HER garden. That being said there was one big old tom - her gentleman caller - who she would graciously consent to keep company with and they would sit on my bench together like Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler.
She had a way of making you feel like an under gardener and I still can't figure out how she did that. She would go from being a tiger, all bold and fearless then come running back in coz she was frightened and needed picking up. She was a shocking flirt too - actually no, she was very good at it, particularly some years back when our vets had a very handsome young Spanish locum vet. Madam was quite shameless!
Her passing was heartbreaking and I'm still at a loss to know how a simple dental op can go so wrong.
RIP Baby girl.
