My very much loved 13 and a half year old Dachshund had to be PTS yesterday evening. He got up yesterday morning and was a little dodery and couldn't get over the back door step. Nothing unusual in this as he had arthritis so some days were better than others.

By yesterday evening he was unable to walk, sit or lay comfortably so we rushed him to the vets. He was displaying other behaviour which was a big concern and after speaking to the vet we took the very hard decision to have him PTS.

I really hope he is happy running around free from pain now and enjoying himself again. We will miss him so much

I'm truly so very very sorry. I dread that day. It's the last and most important thing you can ever do for them.

He was my baby and saw me through some awful times. He was my little shadow, everywhere Mummy went he was right behind me and slept next to me in the bedroom.

Even though we still have 2 BC's, Jasper was my boy and it won't be the same without him. The BC's and cats have spent last night and today looking for him, the cat is sleeping in his bed (I can't bear to move it at the moment).

So sorry for your loss of Jasper. I hope the happy memories of him will replace the pain you are going through at the moment.
He is at peace now and free from pain.

Thinking of you all-it is the last loving thing you could do for Jasper-but that does NOT make it any easier to cope with

We lost our Lulu-a 14 yr old collie cross 4 mths ago and the sense of loss is still often unbearable-I still expect to see her walk round the corner
Our other dog has dementia-which in a sad way is good-as he would have missed her so much-they came to us together ,aged 12 weeks-now he doesnt realise she has gone
