Charlie

I'm writing this but not sure where to begin as i've never had the misfortune to do this before.

As some of you may know I had 8 dogs, one of which gave me my passion for being a dog owner. This dog was the first dog I ever owned, Charlie. He came into my life in 1994, when I was just 6 years old. Since then he has been the most loyal, loving companion I could have ever asked for! He has taught us how to be part of a 'pack' and what it truly means to accept a dog into your family and share an unbreakable bond. His love for me has been unconditional for the last 16 years. He has been an inspirational dog that has welcomed all my other pets into the family home, including the dogs I own now, dogs I have looked after whilst their owners have been away, my cats, and a number of small animals.

Unfortunately over time, the last year especially, Charlie hadn't really been himself. He still made the occasional wag of his tail when he saw me, but I feel his quality of life has been snatched away from him through old age. Today I made the heartbreaking decision to ring the vet and ask for him to be taken to Rainbow Bridge.

I have so many wonderful memories of Charlie and will cherish them.

Message to Charlie: You will always be my best friend, and I will remember you forever! Until we meet again, run free over Rainbow Bridge.

I love you xxxxx

Re: Charlie

So sorry, and the pain really hurts, but he had a good life and you must take comfort in that, you sound like a really good person and knowing that you have always done your best for your animals will stand you in time, i lost my 'special ' friend in july, but i know i always did right for her, but also did the kindest ,hardest and saddest thing at the end, and that was being there for her, as you were for your special friend.

Re: Charlie

ahhh bless him. I lost my old boy in 2008, we'd had him since I was 5 years old and it's like losing a little brother isn't it. I still find it strange having two different dogs now, sometimes I still expect to see him in the mornings or when I come home.

Run free Charlie xx
