R.I.P Tia

Sorry if its long

Background: My baby girl was born on the 18th June 2008 and we had her on the 21st July 2009, I was looking after her for a few months but I knew from the moment I got her that she would become a big part of my life. A few days before she was due to go, her old owners rang me and said they were going to rehome her and asked if I would like to help find her a new home so I told them without thinking that I would take her, it was the best snap decision I ever made. Tia was never a pet to me, she was always my little girl, and I would do anything for her. On the 21st May 2010 she gave birth to 3 beautiful kittens who all got rehomed.

The accident: I let Tia out on the 12th October 2010 as she kept crying at the door, she normally stayed by the house so I thought she would be ok, just after lunchtime, my neighbour knocked on the door and informed me that a cat had been knocked over and he thought she was mine as he knew I had a small tabby cat, by time I got over, she had already been taken to the vets by a passerby.

Aftermath: I contacted the vets who confirmed my worst fears that the cat who had been hit was indeed my baby. They told me she had broken her hip, and was bleeding from her bladder which had been torn, I went straight to the vets and broke down when I saw Tia lying in a cage covered with a blanket and not moving, she was breathing but it was shallow and I could tell that she had been in alot of pain.
They gave me two choices - either take Tia to the animal clinic which was an hour away or put her down, I asked what her chances were and they said not good, they didn't think she would make the journey and if she did, she would be paralysed, I felt like my whole world had crashed around me, and all I could think about was making Tia better, but I knew I had to make a choice which was best for my baby girl, so I chose to put her down, it was the worst decision I had ever had to make, and I will never forgive myself for letting her out but I had to do what was best for her.

Tia,
The day you came into my life was a day il never forget. I love you more then words could say, and I want to thank you for being such a loyal part of my life. You will never be forgotten.
R.I.P my precious baby.
Love mummy xxx

Re: R.I.P Tia

so sorry about Tia, it must be awful for you.

Don't feel guilty about what happened - it was a tragic accident and you have no way of knowing it was going to happen. You made the best decision for her instead of being selfish and keeping her going for your own benefit.

Run free Tia xx

I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Tia.

I lost my own beautiful Caesar to a RTA 5 months ago; he was only 7, he was however killed outright.

You made the correct decision for you would not want Tia paraylsed and encumbered in her life however much it breaks your heart.

Always remember Tia could never have been more loved in her lifetime on this earth. Her life was short, too brief, but in the time she was with you she lived and was loved to the fullest.

Their loss leaves a void that nothing can fill or touch...only time which somehow lessens that gut-wrenching despair.

After I lost my Caesar, a friend sent me a poem entitled 'choices', if you would like me to send it to you please let me know via the private message and I will email it to you. It somehow explains as to why we choose our animals knowing that someday we will lose them and why we set ourselves up for such heartache.

Again, my sincere condolences for you should have had many years with Tia instead of the brief time you were afforded.

God Bless Jxx
