Unhappy R.I.P sweet girl <3

My Budgie, Jerry, who was nearly 13 years old is now at peace.

I took her to the vets a couple of hours ago. He said they could try her with anti biotics and to be honest I caved and said yes to give it a go, I was being selfish and wasn't ready to let her go. The vet went off to find the medication and me and my mum both sighed in relief, she was chuntering away in her cage too.

Then realisation kicked in when he said I'd need to give it orally or in her water... there's no chance she'd let me give it to her and also giving it through her water there was no guarantee she'd get enough of it, so I made the hard decision of letting her go. I burst out into tears, and the vet gulped and he had tears in his eyes when he saw me, I felt bad for making him upset lol. He was really nice though. Apparently she probably had liver failure too, bless her.

I wanted to stay with her, but they don't use injection to PTS, and the way they do it they won't let people watch for good reason... so he took her in her cage...

I brought her little body home and burried her in the garden, under a plant, it may sound daft but I put her into a box, wrapped her up and then put some Millet in, and 2 of her favourite mirrors

I miss her already, the house seems empty and my youngest Budgie seems lost and like he knows something's happened

Saying their goodbyes. The picture isn't very clear but Harley had his face right up against the cage, and they were softly chirping to one another <3

One of the last pictures of her. Taken in the car on the way to the vets

R.I.P my gorgeous girly. Love and miss you loads xxxxx

Re: R.I.P sweet girl <3

Thanks everyone.

Spoke to her old owner today (she had 2 previous to me) and found out she was near 16 years old, not 13 like we thought she was a little old lady

Re: R.I.P sweet girl <3

im sorry to hear of you sweet little girl i had 1 specially one years ago and many after,
its so heart breaking knowing that you get so attached to them and you know there outcome.
13 is a good age but the loss is terrible.
i knew what the vets do but my last one had the needle its so sad , i hope she did not suffer and i can only say i dont agree of thet way the vets put them to sleep but the needle is humane,
my last bugie lived nearly 16yrs and she suvived the siberian winter which was so harsh theres not telling of how long they are with us, but they help to fill a empty space in our lifes, time may mend a broken heart but memories will live forever,
rip sweet girl
