Sleep tight, Rannoch

My collie Rannoch had to be put to sleep today, aged ten years. He had uncurable kidney problems. He's just been laid to rest in the back garden alongside his big sisters who he never knew, Corrie (died April 1993) and Cassie (died November 1999).

Thanks for being a friend my wee pal. I will miss like you wouldn't believe the walks we did together, along the river, along the shore, through the forests.

Until we meet again.

But the heartache I'm feeling just now doesn't even come close to eclipsing the joy you brought me in the time we had together.

Re: Sleep tight, Rannoch

Im sorry to hear your sad news, its heart breaking isn't it. My dog has 3 - 6 months to live, he has a growth attached to his liver which is cancer, each day I cherish as I don't know what tomorrow brings. I hope as each day passes your pain will ease.

God bless

Clio

Re: Sleep tight, Rannoch

Thanks for the nice words and thoughts.

Everybody that keeps a pet goes through this but I remember being told by a man I worked with years ago that the pleasure and joy a pet brings you is worth the pain at the end. It's true even though I'm missing Rannoch (named after Rannoch Moor in Scotland incidentally) desperately and am struggling to come to terms with the fact I'll never see him again or fall over him after he decided to lie down and sleep at an awkward bit in the house. The pain will pass, I know that and it is a comfort to know there are others who know exactly what it feels like.
