Smile A friend for our rabbit

Hi,

We have been thinking about getting our 6 month old Lionhead a mate to keep him company where we are out. The vet has recommended getting another neutered boy but we really wanted a girl. He said that sometimes girls can be very dominant!

I also wonder if we did get a boy would it matter if the new boy was not neutered untill he was 6 months old, how this would affect our rabbit who is ready neutered?

Does anyone have any advice?

Change your vet!!! What a load of rubbish!

Boys even neutered are incrediably hard to bond, it can be done but often does not work. a neutered female is the best option, there are thousands in rescues looking for a boyfriend! Rabbit Rehome - Adopt an unwanted bunny from a rescue centre

I tried to bond 2 rescued boys, it worked until the younger one got older, they were both neutered and they ended up seriously fighting, i tried everything. Both boys are now happily settled with neutered female companions!

My loved up couple

Thank you! I thought it was a little strange that all of the pairs I had seen were boy/girl and hardly any with two boys.
We will look for a little girl lionhead then, I did look at the website for rescue bunnies but didn't see any that were very close to us in Surrey.

If you see any buns you like in the rabbits in need section of the forum, bunnyruns can be arranged, they can get other rescues to carry out a home check and people will do sections of the journey for you to help break it down abit. The buns i rescued from the guy on here that was going to kill them were from shropshire and i got them to essex through about 6 people doing a different section of the journey that lived on route
