Does anyone else use gravel to clean hutch/run water bottle?
sorry if someone has already written about this but it works really well when the bottles start going a bit greeny, popping a handful of gravel in with the water and shaking for a few minutes, sparkling clean

I use a botle brush
p@h sell a savic one that fits perfectly in the bottles, even my hamsters bottles. It also has a mini bruh for cleaning the spout, which sits in the handle They are only £2.99

Re: Does anyone else use gravel to clean hutch/run water bottle?
I used to use sea-salt crystals - the large salt crystals you'd put in a salt mill. These work just as well & in the same way as the gravel or rice, and there's no risk of anything getting trapped inside the spout (which would stop it working).... as the salt would eventually dissolve.
It acts as a natural disinfectant too.

i buy a special disenfectant thats safe to use with all animals (i have reptiles aswell) and you fill a bucket with warm water and a few caps of the stuff, swill out the bottle and they come out perfect! they look new! even my spare bottle (which was in the shed for months) came out like new! and theirs no fiddling around!
brilliant stuff and very cheap aswell! |

I used rice after someone on here suggested it! But it goes so dam soggy and then I struggle to get it out! So I used new fish tank gravel and it worked a treat!!!
