Always worked fine with me maybe its the type of rice. I just get the cheap ASDA stuff, dry and uncooked.

doh! I've completely forgotten about the green water bottles after having Miffy indoors. I think I used to just use very hot water as a kid to try and kill the green muck?

The salt works very well and helps to stop the green coming back. However, the green algae is no danger healthwise to the rabbit, it just looks bad!

yeh, I got the cheap Tesco stuff, not the boil in bad stuff just a bag of dry rice, but it just sticks to the bottle and then I cant get it out of the hole!

Ive never heard of doing that i just use a brush but i think i'll try the rice later

The rice can swell up and block the spout if any gets stuck in there - that's why I always preferred the salt crystals.

I just used to shove them in the freezer for a bit then a good shake in hot water..
