Re: in shock!!!!

this is quiet common, If you are planning on getting her a friend I would make sure she defiantly hasnt got anything and also get the friend done just to be safe.

Re: in shock!!!!

also when I had my rabbit spayed the vets let me pick her up the same day she didnt eat anything so I had to take her back and they kept her in with more pain meds til she ate. Just to warn u its quiet big surgery so dont expect her to be full of beans

Question Re: in shock!!!!

i've had another phonecall now, they say she has no uterus/ovaries etc but there is no sign she has been spayed before (we were told by the rescue home we got her from that she hadn't been spayed) but no sign she has previously had male genitals either....
the vet said said there are a couple of marks which COULD be where tesicles used to be but also could be just markings, and that hes not come accross this before (said it's usually much more obvious which one it is)
then he said he's about 60% sure she's female but 40% she could infact be a he.... poor bunny !!

Re: in shock!!!!

also from my experience with rabbits in the past she has seemed just like a hormonal doe that hasn't been spayed..... and with also having been told she hadn't been spayed by the rescue home, i have to say i was 100% certain.... never would have expected her not to have a uterus or be (possibly) a male!!! don't know what to do now... i guess i'll just have to treat her as a girl seeing as we don't really have another option!

Re: in shock!!!!

How old is she? In smaller breeds it can be hard to find the uterus when they're still young.

Re: in shock!!!!

we don't know exactly how old she is as we got her from a rescue home, but we do know she is definately an adult, she does look/act quite young, my guess (and the vets) is about 1 - 2 years old... she's not a small rabbit but not a large one either, medium size really!
they did carry on trying to find any evidence of male/female parts at the vets but said they couldn't find anything conclusive.... hope she's alright i feel terrible her going through the operation for nothing.... ah well i guess we weren't to know
