Wire mesh and perspex q for playhouse and run?

Hi everyone, I was wondering what wire mesh everybody uses? My dad is building me a run for when we get our 2 buns at the end of the month and I want to make sure it's secure enough....any suggestions would be great!

Also on the window of our playhouse that's getting built should it be covered with perspex or wire mesh? I'm concerned about the buns being nice and snuggly in the winrer but also want their house to be well ventilated....decisions decisions!
Thanks
Kayleigh

Re: Wire mesh and perspex q for playhouse and run?

for my wendy house I've brought the plastic coated wire mesh, its very spaced but theres no way they can get out, and i'm in the middle of griding off the sharp bits where ive cut it to size, also i've put this on the inside so foxes and people cant rip it off and steal her. I think its about £4 for a 90 x 60 cm sheet so not as cheap as the thinner stuff. If its very windy or cold they will be able to hide in a cubby i'm putting inside the wendy house on the floor out of the window drafts

for ur run u might want to buy a role of wire mesh as it'll be cheaper I would go for the square stuff rather than the chicken wire

Re: Wire mesh and perspex q for playhouse and run?

My rabbits used to live in a house that had a perspex window and it was fine- make sure it is thick though as I had a thin sheet which cracked in winter and then Sugar managed to knock it out and made a bid for freedom - luckily my mum saw and caught him!

The wire mesh emzy mentioned with the plastic coating is good as foxes can't bite through it...but rats can get through the gaps which is something to be aware of. I used to have this on my run though and it was fine but thinner stuff on the bottom so it was kinder on their feet and eventually I turfed over the wire. If you have a rat problem then you can buy thick steel wire which i've also used in the past.

For a run, i have found that the best thing to use is chainlink fencing..
It keeps the bun inside and foxes cant get in as its too strong. I even have some over the door of Lily's hutch.
There are a few different sizes you can get too so the gaps arent too big for mini buns
