Question Sun Trap!!!

Hi all, My garden is a sun trap and there is no shade anywhere. Prince loves to be in his run all day but he is staying in the hutch to stay out of the heat. does anyone know how or what i could make a shaded part? i will upload a photo this evening of his hutch and run area. thanks. xx

Re: Sun Trap!!!

You could try making some shelters out of heat reflective sheeting. This is what i have done, and both of mine use these.

My garden is a bit of a sun trap. But i have areas under plants that provide some shade.

Re: Sun Trap!!!

Cotton sheets sound like a good idea, I would have suggested some sort of parasol. Our garden is a bit of a sun trap too but they shelter underneath a trough we have out there and under our parasol. My other suggestion would be putting a little table in the run, I made some out of wood offcuts- they can hide under it when its warm and jump onto it when they're playing!

Re: Sun Trap!!!

I use big cardboard boxes placed randomly in the garden to give somewhere to hide from the sun and play in. Also as said before draping an old cotton sheet over a couple of garden chairs to create a tent works well. In the shaded areas I've made in the garden I give them bottles of frozen water to lick and lay against to cool down.
