One thing I do as a breeder of cinchillas is always be open for rescues aswell as I believe that all breeders should take some resposibility for the rescue siuation.
I have also taken in many rescue rabbits in the past and still do now if needed.
see thats why im thinking about getting a bonded pair from rescue as i want to do my part in rehoming a wanting pair.
oooo toddy i may end up down the rescue ctr 1 day

Re: sick of time wasters!!

I think breeding should stop for a year or two so all rabbits in rescues can be rehomed, then continue to breed.

People may say well i have homes for them all, but it is still X amount of homes that a rescue rabbit could have.

As for Timewasters- try running a rescue!!

Exactly why i said it

I didn't say stop breeding completely as then there would be no buns.
But if breeding was stopped for 2 years, all rescue buns found homes, so then there would be balance again

Re: sick of time wasters!!

Good n theory but in practice it wouldn't work out like that.
Breeders who breed for the right reason and for the benefit of the breed are not the problem and it would be wrong for those people to stop breeding good quality rabbits.
What needs to be stopped is people who put any two animals together because 'it will be nice for them to experience being a mum'

Yeh have to say i agree, its a real shame but a battle i dont think we'll ever realistically win I think the first step is to stop petshops selling them before anything else.

So many people see rabbits as an easy pet you can just leave in a hutch in the garden and play with when you feel like it, like some sort of toy, then when it goes wrong it gets dumped with a rescue for them to pick up the pieces.

Its so sad thinking about any animal which just gets dumped because its owners are bored ir made the wrong choice its like they are an object rather than a living creature!
