HELP My Bunny has injured himself

My rabbit has gotten his claw caught on one of my buttons and has been really bleeding. Tried to bandage it up but he freaks out every time we touch his leg even though he is tame and loves being held. He keeps licking at it. Should we leave him be or take him to the vets???

Re: HELP My Bunny has injured himself

Nails do bleed a lot don't worry too much unless it is broken or split, it may need trimming, i have had my bunnies do this before and you can buy from most petshops wound powder which can help prevent infection and dry up the blood, or special cotton buds which contain a medication that when put on the bleeding/broken nail cautaurises it to stop the bleeding.

Both of these things work very well and are completely safe to use on rabbits.

Thanks Matrix, I'll get some of that just incase it happens again.

The bleeding seems to have stopped eventually. Locked him away now so he doesn't catch it on the carpet and make it bleed again.

Nails are a pain as they bleed like mad.
If it ever happens again use cornflour to dip the bleeding nail in it if you do not have wound powder available. It stops the bleeding immediately and is perfectly safe.
