Agressive rabbit - advice please!

Hi all

I recently got an 8 week old female rabbit. I don't think she has been handled much as she struggles and when allowed to roam she stamps her back legs alot!! I was hoping to get her a rabbit friend at the weekend but am now worried she won't accept a friend but I don't want her to be lonely.

I just tried my guinea pig in with her for 5 minutes under supervision and she shoved him and stamps her feet again!

What should I do?! Do you think she would accept a friend?

Re: Agressive rabbit - advice please!

Guinea-pigs and rabbits are two different species and should never be housed together as they require different types of food.

The reason a rabbit stamps its feet is a danger signal to other rabbits and unless your going to breed from your rabbit you should have them spayed, this can be done from three months onwards.

please dont attempt to keep guinea pigs in with rabbits, as like mcdigical said they have different dietry requirments and a rabbit can also kill a piggie.

i got my buck neutetred so they can run in the garden together, now she hated him

Re: Agressive rabbit - advice please!

Never put buns with guinea pigs as already said.

The buns will need to be neutered once they are old enough/big enough. Female rabbits especially can be aggressive they suffer from their hormones, also females buns are at high risk of uterine cancer if left un-neutered. You need to spend time just sitting with them and getting them used to you on their terms. Bunnies generally dont like being picked up, they will get used to it but you need to hold them firmly supporting their bottom so they feel secure.
