Litter tray trouble
I have two rabbits who are siblings - a boy and a girl. Both are neutered. They have a triangular corner litter tray which i fill with a mixture of natural recucled cat litter and clay. In the winter they live in an indoor hutch with the same litter tray, and they use it without a problem. When they go outside however in a two-storey hutch Poppy the girl promptly throws all litter out of the tray into the hutch. It makes a big mess in the cage which they then have to sit in and they still use the tray without litter in, making it very messy smelly and unhygienic, attracting flies. I have tried everything I can think of, but I just don't know why she does it! Any help much appreciated as it is becoming a problem.

Re: Litter tray trouble
I can't really help because the first time we put the litter tray in Leo's cage he tipped it over so we took it out for a few days put it back in and he used it no problem. Then we moved him out of the cage and he uses it no problem.

Re: Litter tray trouble
yeh thank you. the litter tray is attatched to the wall by a hook, and they don't upturn the litter tray, they just chuck the contents all over their cage! do you mean something that enables them to use it still but stops the content flying everywhere? because that would be useful. i've heard it been suggested that a wire rack cake stand is used to cover the litter tray, but i'm unsure of this.
