Not weeing much

Hi everyone.

I'm new to the forum (and to bunnies). I got two mini lop bucks on Saturday, aged 8 weeks and 10 weeks. They seem to be settling in ok, they HATE being picked up but they seem curious and whilst one cowers in the corner of the hucth the other is coming over for a sniff, a nudge and a lick every now and then.

All seems fine (ish) in the toilet department, a few soft poos overnight and one left cecotrope this morning but the rest of the day everything has seemed back to what I expected. Except they're not weeing much, at all. They have a water bottle and yesterday drank only 80-100ml between them, although I have read that 100ml per 1kg is about right so given their size this could be ok right? In the morning I am seeing maybe three wet patches, nothing else. I've had them inside for an hour and there was nothing then. Is this normal? From my research I expected them to be weeing everywhere.

Re: Not weeing much

Mine hardly drink anything as they get lots of water from greens. They do wee alot though. What have you got on the surface of the hutch and have you got a litter tray?

Re: Not weeing much

I've not given them greens yet, I did give them a tiny sliver of carrot each but then after the soft stools I decided against that until they're a bit more settled. They have Wagg Optimum pellets, which is what the breeder was giving them and there is a big dollop of hay at one end of the litter tray (I read they think toileting and eating should go side by side!) and their sleeping compartment is completed covered in a layer of hay they are munching on throughout the day.

The hutch has a plastic base, which is covered in sawdust, there is a litter tray that they use for sitting in, not toileting! I am scooping up some poos and the odd bit of wet sawdust (if I can find one) and popping that in there too.

If they are weeing I'm not sure where!! I've only seen three wet patches in three days.
