to neuter or not to neuter...

Calvins had all his jabs..but he hasnt been 'fixed' ......what should i do? he is lovely, he hasnt bitten, the only destructive behaviour is chewing the wall paper....
if i do get him neutered, i dont want him to change, i love that he jumps over the bed and runs everywhere, will it make him lazy? and i dont want to stress him out.....

what should i do...money isnt an issue and i trust my vet.....
my bf doesnt like the idea.......any help would be great

Re: to neuter or not to neuter...

Well when my rabbits got neutered I really didn't notice much change in them at all. Mind you, there were neutered at a young age so I wouldn't of had that much time to know their full personality. However, Beauty can still bite, (even though she doesn't very often) but my boy (Smokey) doesn't bite at all.

Up to you, how old is your rabbit? You could see how it goes and if he becomes agressive or destructive, maybe think about neutering?

I personally dont see any point in neautering rabbits, putting them under is risky.

Hey foxxy

How old is Calvin? Its difficult, you dont have to get him done, the only thing is if you do want to get him a friend in the future depending on your circumstances you'll have to get him done, in that case hes better done whilst he's young anf fit. But if you definetely dont then i guess theres no point. Neutering him wont change him dont worry! My bucks are just the same as they were.

Theres lots of reasons to neuter buns, they can get very frustrated and have behavioural problems, spray, and you certainly need to neuter buns if you are going to bond them when they are older as its not easy to bond. Also 80% of does will develop cancer of the uterus if they havent had a litter, id say thats a pretty good reason, as long as you go to a good vet thats used to dealing with buns the benefits far outweigh the risks, Ive never had a problem with any of my buns being neutered.

No it wont stop him nibbling, un-neutered buns on average are more destructive than neutered, he may stay the way he is or he could become more hormonal he's only young, id wait and have a think about it, theres no rush.
