Question Ladder in the hutch?

Hey,

Have a quick question. I have a double hutch so it has a ladder or ramp leading down stairs... my question is do I need to some how prevent the rabbits coming down the ramp during the night? They have an open area upstairs aswell as their sleeping chamber lol the ramp leads to an open space at the bottom of the hutch.

What do any of you do who have similar hutches?

Re: Ladder in the hutch?

im not sure tbh as my ladder in one of the hutchs that has a little run locks up. Maybe look into hingeing the ladder so you can lock it up. Dont know how easy it will be but im sure you can do it, x Hope this helps xxx

Re: Ladder in the hutch?

Yes thats what we have been working on doing. We have already put hinges on the ladder so it can now go right the way up but we are wondering what to keep it up with at night. We have already put a mini lock but the problem with this is that we are worried it may be uncomfortable for the rabbits during the day as the lock (its one of those normal sliding locks) its on the actual ladder on one side!

How does your one stay up at night?

Re: Ladder in the hutch?

i would say it was best to have it so it closes of at night, but as of how to do it, i'm not sure. Maybe a seperate sort of hatch that folds back flat during the day but locks down over the hole over night?

Re: Ladder in the hutch?

mine has a piece of wood attached to the roof of the bottom layer. The a piece that you can lock it with is just another piece of wood that twists round. Hope this makes sence if not i can try and take a photo and show you.
