Re: Nest Building!!

Well I put her back with my buck on Mon 26th Jan (about 11 days after the first time) he did what I thought was the deed a few times then, so would make her 29 days today, she is still ripping up paper and grunting at me!! shots from the other end of hutch when she hears her bedding end door open! So hoping these are all positive signs!

Re: Nest Building!!

We are on day 31 of the 2nd chance Star could have babies... off her dried food abit, when I fed her this morning I noticed on some of the straw and paper sweeps of blood not loads but could see it easily...she has blocked up the entrance to her bed area where she has pulled out a fair bit of fur, no babies from what I can see (I have not interfered with the nest)

I wondered whether she has had the babies and eaten them? of whether this is the sign of her having them? she is still territorial in her manner with me, but is bright eyed and bushey tailed and tucked in to apple and brocilli. has anyone else had a simular situation? if it was not for the patches of blood I would assume she will have babies tonight??????

Re: Nest Building!!

Rabbits don't generally bleed alot before giving birth so that does worry me slightly.
Have you watched her to make sure she is not straining which would indicate a kit stuck in the birth canal.
If there are no kits by morning I would get her checked over by a vet.

Re: Nest Building!!

Hope everything goes well. My rabbit gave birth last friday and had blood for a few days after. Didnt notice the babies straight away.

Can i ask why would she move her toilet away and lie on the floor what does that indicate?

Goodluck x

best to leave them alone and not to handle them until they have eyes open and are out of nest
