help-litter training

hi all

i got little charley (12 wk old french lop) 2 weeks ago now and he's settled in really well with my 2 cats. the only real problem i have with him atm is his litter training. we keep him in his cage atm because weve been decorating and dont have a door on the kitchen where he lives. he uses his litter tray in is cage 99% of the time which is a joy. however when we bring him and his cage into the living room for cuddles and playtime at night he has taken to weeing on the sofa!!! he even wee'd on me last night as we were having a cuddle!!!
any tips would be greatly apreciated as we cant relax when he's out as we're constantly watching for him to jump on the sofa and have another accident.

Re: help-litter training

He will be much easier to litter train when neutered. This will calm his hormones down and he wont want to constantly "mark" his territory with little currants and puddles be glad he hasnt actually started spraying yet!!
He can be neutered as soon as he "drops"

Re: help-litter training

It'll also take a while for his hormones to calm down after, try and put the litter tray in the place he likes to go most and leave some dirty litter in there to encourage him to go back until he gets used to it, also abit of hay ontop helps too

Re: help-litter training

Treat the area he peed on with soda water. It's supposed to take the smell out and will hopefully stop him going back to the same place again. Rabbits are creatures of habit! Neutering will probably help.
