Percy is keeping us awake all night.

Percy is being a right pain over the last week. He keeps chewing the bars of his cage all night and waking up the kids so I let him out as a last resort and he just ran riot being even worse.

I thought he would get calmer after neutering. He's not ready to go out side as still cold at night and can't go with poppy yet. She's having stitches out tommorow and as am aware hormones are still running riot,

Help!

Re: Percy is keeping us awake all night.

Not very big to be honest. Got it from pets at home when we adopted him and I've since been educated hence getting him a friend and a big hutch. I've got a dog cage he could go in thats bigger which I was going to bond them in.

I've just measures the cage and it's 3ft long 2ft wide and only 1 1/2 ft heigh. I hang my head in shame. I guess this is part of the problem.

Re: Percy is keeping us awake all night.

The small cage will be why he is bar chewing, but it won't be for too much longer.
I wouldn't put him in the dog crate if you are using that to bond them so that it stays neutral.
Is there anywhere in the house he could be moved to that the kids can't hear?
Or even better do you have a pen that you could attach to the cage so that he has a little more space?

Re: Percy is keeping us awake all night.

I do have an indoor run. It would have to go down every day as house is small but Percy goes in the run outdoors then anyway. I'll see if I can hook it up some how to the cage down stairs. Thanks

Re: Percy is keeping us awake all night.

bar chewing can cause their teeth to go out of alignment if they do it enough. Does he have any willow balls or loo rolls he can chew on?

Re: Percy is keeping us awake all night.

He has a wooden carrot attached to his cage and I do give him boxes and loo roll tubes to have a good chew. He only started doing this the last couple of nights probably since being in the run next to poppy during the day so hopefully no long term damage has been done. Maybe he's seen poppy's big hutch and he's not happy.
