Incisor extraction....eek

Hello all, has anyone had a rabbit have its incisors removed?

Re: Incisor extraction....eek

I have an 8 year old bun that had her front teeth removed when she was a year old. One of her peg teeth grew back slightly, which is quite common but doesn't cause any problems.

She struggles to eat hay but she eats plenty of grass to make up for it. She also has to have her molars rasped every month, which were a problem anyway before front teeth were removed. She eats pellets like normal although a bit slow to pick them up and same with veg she eats kale and cabbage like normal but things like carrot need to be cut into bite size peices or I just use a veggie peelers to shred it into long tin strips.

My Toby had his incisors removed when he was a baby. but I can honestly say you would hardly know the difference between him and Tess. He eats his hay like the best of them. Pellets are no trouble, neither are bunny treats, even the hard fruity bites which seem to be his favourite. I always cut up his greens but am sure he could probably manage them no trouble even if I didn't now. I think his gums must have hardened to make amends and he hardly notices now.

one of my brisge buns , Charm, had his front teeth removed, he managed to eat everything (including hay) fine

i dont think it took him long at all after the op to start eating properly, before the op though he was on syringe feeds as he couldnt feed himself

Do you think it could be worth me chopping up his veggies now so he wont be too surprised when they suddenly change shape?
