I planned to allow them out when I am home, which is most of the time, also to have a large pen in the garden for the wamer days.

Thankyou

That won't make any difference I'm afraid as bunnies are crepuscular (active dawn and dusk), also with house bunnies you can only allow them access to outside during the warmest part of the summer due to the temperature change.

A viv really isn't suitable not unless you have one the size of a room.

All indoor cages will need a pen attached 24/7 as there isn't a single one on the market that is big enough

You could go for a 48" dog crate with an attached puppy pen, they don't look as bad as a plastic cage IMO and are much, much cheaper
simplysardonic likes this.

Thankyou to all of you.
All a great help to me!
I may explore my limitations and see what can be done. Maybe go for guinea pigs instead. Im sure my son will love them just as much

Guinea pigs don't need as much room as rabbits

Re: Handmade Hutch- My Idea :)

your best bet would be a 48" dog crate as i suggested earlier, they dont look bad at all, if you cant allow bun to free roam the house 24/7 then attach a puppy pen to the front when you arent around

guinea pigs definitely can NOT be kept in a viv, or viv style cage, they need a wire sided cage to allow a good air flow

Re: Handmade Hutch- My Idea :)

Hu Charlie I personally think you would be best with a run like this Trixie Outdoor Rabbit Enclosure 216x116x65cm Rabbit Runs for Sale, you could put some blankets on the floor and a litter tray, but you need plenty of space.

If you bunny proof a room, cover all the wires with cable tidys and put banks in the plug sockets they can be really well behaved and you would only need a litter tray
