Bad News ... for me.

I had an email tonight from the rescue (Assisi) where my foster bunny is from. They asked me if I would consider doing a bunny swap. If I would be willing to take a little bunny that they have who needs to be a house bunny and bring Marley back to take this bunnies place

Awhhh I am smitten with Marley and despite his cheeky and bold nature - I love him so much. At the end of the day, I am fostering for Assisi and I do have to give the bunnies back but it is so difficult not to get attached.

The little guy coming here is called Harper and apparently he hates outside life. He had an injury to his leg and they feel that he should be indoors as he is reluctant to exercise outsides and needs to be able to heal. Harper is supposed to be very cuddly and sweet. I will miss Marley so very much.

Re: Bad News ... for me.

Keep Marley and foster Harper ... or better still adopt them both

Seriously though , I do understand that as much as we'd sometimes love to keep our fostered animals it isnt always possible

I hope Marley finds his forever home soon hun and good luck with Harper

I think what you are doing is a wonderful thing... I just know I wouldn't be able to do it, I wouldn't have the atrength to give them back.

Hoping cheeky Marley will find a home soon, but I doubt he will forget his foster mummy!

Re: Bad News ... for me.

Thanks guys x. It is extremely difficult to hand them back. Before Marley I had a mummy and 4 babies. I didn't bond as much with them as they stayed in the spare room most of the time but I have fallen for Marley. Friends and family have asked how I can give him back - but reality is if I kept him and bonded him with my 2, then I have taken a space I have reserved for a sick or elderly bunny for Assisi. I asked what would help the rescue out more - adopting a bunny from them now or waiting until a sick one comes in and they said to take a sick one. So I can kinda justify giving him back

I would love to keep Marley but know I will help Assisi out more by fostering and giving them back - as tough as it is. Marley will be paired with a lovely wife when he goes to Assisi and he will be a happy bun with a friend. I most definitely will be going up to visit him and see how he is. He is the cutest little guy and I will miss him so much.

Re: Bad News ... for me.

Emzy, that's exactly what I said in my reply to Assisi. I asked if the temperature change would be ok for him to move to Assisi. They do have an area that is inside and they tend to have the bunnies in seclusion there. Perhaps that is where she will put him?? I haven't heard back as of yet and I will keep you updated on what they say about this.
Thanks Emzy x

Thanks Sarah. It's not so wonderful - I just love animals and since I have the time and space - it is lovely to be able to help out the rescue out

Re: Bad News ... for me.

Can you not keep Marley in your lounge and foster another in your spare room? then if they have a long term ill bunny bond them with Pickles and Amos?

Re: Bad News ... for me.

Oh I do plan to bond a new bunny with Amos and Pickles. As soon as the rescue gets one for me I will be moving it in with them both. I don't do well with bonding but I know it's all part of having bunnies

Regarding keeping one in the spare room and one in my living-room Oh that would be tough lol. My cat has the run of the house and if I had to close the living-room door - me poor cat would have to cross her legs until I got home to let her get out for a piddle I wish I had a bigger house!!

Once I get the things done to my shed and run that I want then I am going to get a hutch for foster bunnies. Once I have that, I can keep one in the spare room and one in the hutch.
