Jaffa's January Message

Christmas is a distant memory for most of us, but can you remember the wish list that Jaffa sent to Santa? This is his update and thank you letter. Don't you just love a happy ending? Or should that be a hoppy ending?

Re: Jaffa's January Message

Its a lovely letter and lucky Jaffa but I have a couple of issues with it. The bit about meeting Pancea and being taken home together makes bonding sound easy, I get the idea from reading it that bonding is just a case of picking another rabbit and bringing them home together with no neutral territory or close watching.

Also near the end about being brought in on christmas day. The issue of bringing an outdoor rabbit into the house during winter isn't something to be encouraged.

I know its lighthearted but anyone reading it that doesn't know about those issues could get the wrong ideas.

Re: Jaffa's January Message

We always consider very carefully what we include in our communications. We are constantly treading a fine line between giving clear and sensible advice whilst keeping it concise, interesting and eye catching enough to make people take notice and take the information in.

You are right to say that bonding can often be difficult, and we are not attempting to suggest otherwise, but we felt it important to impart the importance of companionship in a simple, easy to digest way. The point about them being inside at Christmas was meant to encourage rabbits being part of the family rather than being forgotten about at the end of the garden like so many are. We always include a link to our website where readers can find greater detail.

People who don't know about these issues are our target audience, and we are trying to catch their attention with something fun and punchy that keeps their interest to the end, with the aim of them clicking on the link to the website, and hopefully joining the organisation so they get the more detailed information and their rabbit's life improves.
