My 3

Pickles and Amos seemed to have fallen out a number of weeks ago. They're best pals again. Not sure what happened or how they made up but I am relieved. Marley is doing fantastic and is as cheeky as ever. I don't know how long I will have him but I am loving having him.

I'd spoken about getting a new run made for them ... an aviary type with a 3 level play frame for them. I was thinking about having a bit with a sleeping area outside - means in the summer they can sleep in there if they don't want to sleep in the shed. Going to have an area with toys and another with holes they can climb in and out of. Any suggestions as to what else I can put there?

I had a cheque clear early and messaged the guy who is doing the work. He has not replied. He was to put a light , shelf and plug socket in the shed first and then when I save money I will get the run done. I really hope he gets in touch again as he is very, very reasonably priced.
Jax

Re: My 3

I think they are happy enough with their huge house for just the 2 of them. Maybe just buy them some more treats like fresh herbs and sprinkle them around for some light entertainment. You could always grab an old apple box or 2 from the supermarket for them to use as platforms and hiding places.

Re: My 3

Thanks emzy - but I do really want to spoil them as much as I can. I don't have children and my bunnies and cat are like my children. I will be making the run bigger since I'm doing that I feel I might as well add the play pen area within it. That is if that guy gets back to me. I know the result will be a bit OTT - but why not?
I plan to get another rescue bunny at some point. I asked in Assisi if it would help them more for me to take one of their current bunnies home or would it help more if I take a sick/elderly bunny and the said a sick one. So I am holding out for one to come into the rescue that I can bring home. Then I will have 3 in the shed lol.
I buy coriander and parsley for my gang weekly. I am just about to order online now. I do have 2 boxes in the shed now and they are getting smaller and smaller daily lol. Never thought of the apple boxes. Thanks.

Aw,this sounds like it's going to be great, I may well end up having to pinch some of your ideas!

I have an aviary-style run which contains: a digging tub, a tunnel, a platform, foraging area (just hay & straw in a dry corner onto which I scatter food & herbs!) and assorted, scattered toys (balls, sticks, etc.). I am sure I could do more. In the summer, I'd like to attach a runaround style tunnel leading down to our lawn just to extend his living area even more!

I put Buddy's old two-level hutch in the corner of the run, with all the doors open, as I wanted him to have some shelter and a bolt-hole when outside. He does like leaping in and out of it and sometimes lies across the top shelf. It's hard to believe that's all the space some bunnies have and I'm so happy Buddy's no longer confined to a tiny hutch. The run also has a tunnel which leads to his indoor area in the shed.

Hope this gives you some ideas...?! Happy planning; hope your chap gets back to you soon

Re: My 3

Sounds great - thanks so much. I was hoping to have a dig box on the first level. Oh I am getting psyched. Of curse the guy has not got back to me and I have not placed and ad in My Hammer.com. Will see if anyone gets back to me. I really hope so!!
All my bunnies have is the shed and run as I have a very small back and the run and shed take almost the entire back. So this is one reason I want to make the run the best I can since they are restricted in their wee area.
