Anyone seen/heard about this before?

About two weeks ago when we went out to our bunnys, one of our bunnies had gotten all weird around the nose over the night. It was like his right chin somehow had been drawn back, while his left chin is somewhat swollen.
Here comes 2 pictures of it (so I don't have to explain to much)

He hasnt changed otherwise. He's still happy, energic and cuddly. And it doesnt seem as he's in pains or anything else. Just the same Troy he's always been apart from his 'twisted nose'.

I've owned and bred rabbits for 21 years (including loads of exhibits and showjumping competitions) and never seen or heard about this happening before, 'till this year that is. This year I know atleast 3 bunnys has gotten this. And they all have their right chin drawn back and the left somewhat swollen.

All 3 bunnies has been to various vets.
Their teeths has been checked, bloodsamples has been taken, they've been on antibiotics... Still no vet we've been to can tell what this is.
All they can say is that it's probably not contagious as no other bunny thats been in contact with those 3 has gotten it.

So now I just thought of asking if anyone here has seen this before, and maybe have some knowledge about this? Or has a suggestion to what this can be?

Hope you all had a great christmas.

Never seen that before
Are the 3 rabbits that you know of related in any way?
What tests have been run?
Is there still feeling in the face?

Re: Anyone seen/heard about this before?

I know our Troy is not related in any way to the other 2. I can't answer if those other 2 are related or not, but I don't think so.

They haven't run that many tests on Troy, just checked his teeths and looked at his bloodvalues and such.
I'm not sure what tests the others has been through, but I can ask their owners when I talk to them.
All I know is that they've been to vets 3-5 times for each bunny for various tests and such. But nothing unusual found.
They've done head-xrays on one of them but nothing to be seen there either.

They have still feeling, perfect eyesight, same hearing, eating as normal...

Re: Anyone seen/heard about this before?

Hmmm it almost looks like a stroke, but I'm not 100% sure
There definitely some form of nerve damage, especially as it appears over night
As one has had a head x-ray it rules out abscesses, could they have hurt themselves at all?

Re: Anyone seen/heard about this before?

Yes the vets thinks it's something neurological aswell.
Though if it was a stroke, wouldn't there be any change at all in their behavior or something?

I don't think they hurt themselves either. He hasn't fallen down from anywhere or gotten hit by anything. The cage is perfectly safe aswell so it's more or less impossible for him to get hurt in there.
It's the same with the other two. Nothing has happend to them what we know off, and their cages are safe. Just one morning their noses were "twisted".

It's so weird!
And annoying that noone can tell us of what it is and how they got it....

Not necessarily, it depends on how bad the stoke was, but to have 3 rabbits effected in the same way so close together really does confuse me because the odds of all 3 having a stoke and being effect the same is extremely high

I know you take part in bunny hopping so have the 3 been to a show recently? Is there ANY way they could have been fed anything? I know some plants can cause neurological effects so maybe this is something to look into?

Re: Anyone seen/heard about this before?

oh okey.
Last competition Troy was on was was in early october.
Nasse (one of the other bunnys) got his in late july so it was in the middle of the showjumping-season.
Toulouse (the third) got his in january, he hadn't competed since september.

During the competitions we keep the area where we have the bunnys closed for 'outsiders' and there are always someone there to make sure noone walks in there and gives the bunnys anything.

I know our neighbors gives our bunnys treats sometimes, but we've given them instructions about what's good for a rabbit to eat and what they shouldn't give them so I don't think it's coming from there, and that wouldn't explain the other two bunnys having the same thing.

All 3 has eaten different kind of pellets and hay, so it's probably not the base-food either (wich we suspected in the beginning when it was just one rabbit who had it)

But I'll try to figure out if there's any chance they've eaten something that isn't good for them. and thanks for the tip =)
