Had a shock this morning went to feed my rabbits and my mini lop bailey had died I am devastated they are under a year old my problem is Chester is a large bunny and dosent seem to like other bunnies I tried to add a female to the a few times and it never worked ( they went to rescues to be bonded) I don't want him to be lonely him and bailey adored each other

Hi Sarah, are there any indications of why your rabbit died? I think that needs to be investigated incase it was contagious before you look into introducing another rabbit. Sorry for your loss x

Hi no no indication he has always been a thin sickly looking rabbit I got him from a rescue my other rabbit seems fine he was eating drinking and pooping fine i have already buried him didn't think to take his body to the vets

Was he vaccinated? I'm no vet but VHD is a silent killer and is contagious.

I'm afraid I've drawn a blank then, I'd recommend you let Chester have some alone time over Christmas then see if you can find a new bunny friend in the new year. Many rescues will bond the rabbits for you so they can help find Chester a compatible friend. If Chester can be picky with who he bonds with I'd recommend doing this over rushing out to buy a new rabbit who you may well have to house separately if it doesn't work out.

Deffo not going to buy one want to rescue one I will try again with bonding him after new year so worried he's going to be lonely
