Digging in litter box

So every since I got Honey neutered, his litter box habits have gotten MUCH better (he no longer leaves droppings around everywhere). But lately he's taken to digging in the box and scattering those good habits all around his cage. He NEVER used to do that, and I don't know why he suddenly decided this is a fun thing to do. *Sigh* At least the box is in his cage and not out on my rug, but it's still annoying. He also only does it the day after I change the litter--not the day of, but after he's actually used it. I simply put all of the contents back in the box after he's done it, and sometimes he'll dig it back out and sometimes he won't. Does anyone else have this issue?

Re: Digging in litter box

I have had 2 bucks that have been terrible litter tray diggers, the only way I solved the problem was to use litter trays with high sides (under the bed storage tubs are great) so that when they did dig it didn't end up with the contents all over the floor.
One of the bucks that was a digger is no longer with me but the other one has stopped recently, not sure if he stopped because he can't be bothered with it any more or if I took all the fun away hehe.

Re: Digging in litter box

My two little muffins do this all the time. The solution I had was to give them a cat carrier as a litter tray with the door taken off. They can dig and flick as much as they want.

Lol, sounds like I'll just have to get used to it and see if I can find a higher litter tray for him...the little brat's lucky I love him I swear, just when I think I've got him trained, he finds another way to show me that he has ME trained, instead.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! there is something to be said when you know you couldnt possibly have a lay in on your day off, because you KNOW you will awake to the sound of bunnies on top of their treat box thumping away at it, so Daddy will know to open it at PRECISELY 7am
