hi im new need bonding advice please!!

hi i have a 12 week old male rabbit named pumpkin who ive had for 4 weeks who is a lovely placid boy who cant get enough cuddles, i decided i would get him a friend. today we got a female one named bonnie who is 6 months. neither have been done yet but am planning on doing this asap.
we put them both in the front room this afternoon and bonnie went for pumpkin. thinking about it bonnie has been through a lot today with not knowing us and a new house etc so dont blame her for her reaction in the slightest. can anyone tell me where i go from here, i obviously want bonnie to gain some trust in us over the next few weeks but how do i go about the bonding?

any advice is great please as ive never owned rabbits before.

thanks

Re: hi im new need bonding advice please!!

woooooah! it only takes a second to get her pregnant!

My best advice would be 2 keep them in 2 separate rooms for now so they do not develop aggression towards eachother. Rabbits are extremely territorial and you have just cheesed your boy off big time! Book your female in to be vet check vaccinated and spayed ASAP. Find a good rabbit savvy vet too not just a regular vet.

Then once your boy is ready to be done anything from now if hes matured very quickly to in a few months time get him neutered.

Once they've both been done and you've waited at least 4 weeks, bond them in neutral territory so dont let 1 have free range of your whole house.

My advice would be to keep them completely separate until 6-8 weeks AFTER their spay and neuter, and then come back for advice

Re: hi im new need bonding advice please!!

Hi thanks for ur responses, I'm planning on keeping them separate til they are both done. Will be phoning a few vets tomorrow. The male rabbit is as calm as always but the female is very agitated, think I'll give her a few days to settle in properly.

Maybe a silly move at the min but hopefully in time we can have two very happy rabbits. And I'm prepared to do whatever it may take.

Thanks
