If you rescue unwanted ones, and well done for doing so, does that not contradict also breeding them if you are aware of the problem of neglected buns. Just curious really not looking to directly snipe

Re: colours???

This is something you should know BEFORE breeding And if these are the same rabbits you have posted on PL then your doe is not Agouti (acoustic or whatever you call her).
I suggest you do a little reading up on colours and hold off on the breeding until you know a little more

Re: colours???

no, i understand that, but they were brought up by us, hand reared, and we like to let them have the experience of 1 litter, like we have done with our others. they then get neutered after. we like to also know the background of genetics with our rabbits, as we never cross breed. there are too many rabbits, getting bred and are then unwanted, we ourselves and other organisations are left to pick up the pieces. but here were all like a little a family. even my 4 year old knows how to handle, and care for the rabbits, even our giant lop flopsy, and shes huge lol.

Re: colours???

what the hell is acoutic????
that isnt even a real colour....

1) what breed are your rabbits? lopped is not a breed (neither is giant lop!!!)
2) can you tell me the FULL genetic history of both rabbits going back atleast 3 generations?
3) what recesives do they carry?
4) where did you get them from (if they are rescue rabbits they need spaying/neutering and NEVER being bred from
5) what are you reasons for breeding? what do you hope to achive from this cross? what traits do you hope to pass on and improve upon, and what undesirables are you expecting to pop up

Seriously, I am sick to the back teeth with that excuse with dogs I've never heard someone use it with rabbits.
There is no need to breed your rabbits full stop for starters they aren't even breeding quality.
And I think you will find that people like myself and a few others here are the ones that pick up the pieces from people like you, do you know that there are over 35 thousand rabbits in rescue at any one time?
As your family rescues you should know so, so much better and frankly I am disappointed

Re: colours???

well I am glad others have taken the lead as I thought I may have been being over sensitive hence the vague comments.

I am fed up of posts/people/breeders like this and others having to pick up the pieces.

There is no argument for the 'one time breed experience' and I'm sure once those that these breed are sold to get bored we will see them through some of the brilliant people on here to pick up the pieces (Myself excluded at present due to one bed london flat but help with bonding and education for other bun owners)
