Exclamation My Rabbit Has An Angry Eye

Hello everyone,

I just signed in to require your help. It's about my little rabbit. He's about nine to ten years old, and for almost all his life he's had one inflamed eye. There is a lot of pus and septic matter coming out of it. We've always taken good care of him, cleaning his hutch once or twice a week etc.
We've also been to the vets several times, who gave us some ointment or eyegel for him. They worked for a while, but then my bunny's eye would get ill again. Last time the ointment wouldn't work at all, so I'm afraid the bacteria that infects his eye has grown resistant to it.
Because the inflammation was so severe (the pus was even coming out of his little nose) and he looked so ill, we've recently brought him inside our house (he's always been in the garden). The warmth did him much good, but unfortunately not to his eye.

Does anyone know what to do or how this is caused? Could it be the hay or something? We've tried lots of stuff like straw, sawdust (wich were no good according to the vet) and even cat litter. Are there some herbs (like camomile) that I could use? Please give me some suggestions, because our rabbit is such a joy to our family!

Thank you!

Re: My Rabbit Has An Angry Eye

Weepy eyes are a clear sign of dental issues or a blocked tear duct, so I would get both of those checked.
