does anyone know if ...

Does anyone know if male rabits spray?? We have a 6 month old harliquin and a 5 year old lop, both boys but in seperate hutches. We also have a lop-lionhead girl who is in another hutch. They all have a run but Harleys (harliquin) run was being fixed so we popped him into Cookies (lop) run, while we cleaned his hutch and fixed his run. Cookie was scratching at his cage, probably warning off Harley..as both males. Then Harley sqirted yellow/cream coloured stuff on the floor. We thought it was wee but we are not sure. Do rabbits spray?

Any help please xx

Yes and it can smell to. Mine did this at around 6 months and continued until he was done. This was to calm him as he was a bit aggressive. He was a calmer happier bunny once he was done. Although if you plan to breed its some thing you cant stop its there way of marking like our dogs do.

Ok thank you, was starting to worry. I would love to breed them as he is a gorgeous colour and Jasmine our other bunny is like a dark cream colour, they would have gorgeous babies but i cannot breed them as they are brother and sister.

No wouldnt be a good idear would it. Yes mine use to spray and sort of buck out with his hind legs, the only thing i had to watch was his weight when he was neutered as they can put on weight more easily. His coat seemed thicker to, or maybe we had a colder snap...Mine was a chinchilla mini lop. Unfortuanately we only had him a year after a long battle with one illness after another. He in the end had to be pts. Which was so sad as only very young we tried every thing to help him.

awr that is so so sad. Its not nice when we have to have them pts is it. We had these bunnies given to us 3 weeks ago and they had been in the same hutch since birth, so i hope she is not pregnant as we got told they were both boys. I decided to check it out for myself and harley is defo a boy, so we sepearated pronto.

Think the best bet is to wait the 31 days and see if anything happens with her. In the meantime il get harley neutered. Then they can go back together once she is sorted out.

My other boy has not been neutered and he is just adorable, not a nasty bone in his body. Used to be a house rabbit bit he got massive, hes almost 5 now. xx

The chances that shes not pregnant are slim im afraid to say unless your lucky they have kits so early and your male would be able to make her pregnant at the age he is. Was he showing any sighs of hoping on her whilst they were together. Rabbits are very hit and miss with the temprement and people dont realise when they get them that there harder work than most people realise. I think alot of people just see the cute fluffy bunny and thats it. My mate owns a mini lop fawn colour. Also a french lop doe fawn and shes massive and her feet are gigantic. She is very soft natured and her and the male love each other to bits. I feel its best to have 2 as they keep each other company.

hiya
well i hope and pray she isnt having babies!! We never saw them 'at it'. But from what we have found out even if he had of, she was more than likley preggers when they were given to us. We have come to the conclusion this was why the previous people wanted rid.

Well whatever happens they are well loved and have lots of snuggies every day. I have tried another rabbit with cookie but he did not like it!!!

You sound very responsible any caring people. Shame not all are the same. Like i say people take rabbits on and when its starts to get cold and wet and they dont want to go out in the cold to sort them out its to much hard work. Theres to many rabbits that are dumped which is awful. A friend when i was a teenager came home with a large white rabbit from the new forest where it had been dumped her dad couldnt leave it there. It was the softest bunny and lived for 8 years. If they hadnt had took it home foxes probabley would have got it as they are not able to hide and cope like a wild rabbit, especally being white to easy to spot. Your have to put some pics on.

If i was you id take her to vet, if she is in early stages of pregnancy you can have an emergency neuter. Are you going to get her neutered?
