Rabbit thefts, Morcombe area

We have received notifications, mostly via Facebook, of rabbits being stolen from their outdoor homes in the Morcambe area.

If your rabbits lives outdoors, please ensure that their home is very securely locked and that there is the minimum possibility of any would-be thief gaining access. Prickly hedges and wobbly trellis on the top of high walls and fences are good deterrents, as are cat spikes attached to the tops of fences or walls. Robust enclosures are a must for keeping out thieves and predators alike and for preventing rabbits from eating their way out, along with the best padlocks you can afford.

Consider microchipping. Most vets have microchip readers and often people finding stray rabbits will take them to a vet at some point where they can be scanned.

Please protect your rabbits.
