My new wabbit

This is Elmo, I inherited him from a friend, who rescued him from less than perfect conditions. He was in a cage with another buck and they had fought so he had a rather large scab on his side. He was also sat on lots of layers of straw etc. Alot of his fur was yellow instead of white.

Now he is indoors, cos I'm still waiting for his hutch to be made, he has safe sawdust, barley straw and meadow hay to sit on/ eat. I also give him some pellets and loads of dandelion leaves. He doesn't seem to be impressed with hog weed.

I let him out of his cage 2 or 3 times a day and he binky's across the room quite often.

The cats are curious but everytime he goes near them ,they tend to beat a hasty retreat and the dog runs off as soon as I open the cage.

Re: My new wabbit

Awww, he is lovely Well done to you and your friend for rescuing him
Have you considered keeping him indoors for good? If he is ok with the cats and the dog then thats you main thing They are easy to litter train and a large dog crate is good for times when he needs to be shut in.
If he is going outdoors he could do with a female friend(he would need to be neutered), as they can get very bored and lonely on their own

Re: My new wabbit

There is a posibility of getting a black doe next week, rescued from the same place. I am thinking about the indoors thing.

I definitely need to rabbit proof my house though, he's already munched my laptop cable.

If I litter train him I could put the tray in the crate couldn't I?

Could anybody tell me what colour he is? I know that if he was a cat he would be a pale tortie and white.

Yep, if you litter train him then just move it into the crate when you shut him in. It needs to be woodbased cat litter for bunnys.

You can obviously have 2 if they are indoors aswell, but definately needed if outside

I would say that colour too Bunnies I think work on the same colours as cats pretty much!
