Water bowl

After having squeak for over 2 yrs it has only just occured to me to try him with a water bowl along side his bottle

Omg he loves it! Came straight to me when he noticed i was fiddling with his hutch and spotted the bowl straight away and dived right in! So many happy skips then, cant believe i never tried it with him before, i dare say when he is in a huff he will cope it, but hey its only water!

He is one happy munchkin

Re: Water bowl

Most stuff i have read about water for rabbits say that bowls are much better for them as they can drink the water easier, i have always used bowls .
I think it is important in the warmer weather that they have easy access to plenty of water , also for an outside rabbit the water bowls do not freeze up as fast as the bottles .
I use the ones from this company , they are Sanvic bowls , and i havent had 1 chewed yet they are very hard . Its a grey bowl that attaches the the hutch , and very easy to fill and clean .

Re: Water bowl

Pickles and Amos have always had bottles. Because Millie was living inside for a while, I gave her a bowl as I wasn't sure where to get free-standing bottles. I didn't check it out as she was happy to drink outta a bowl. Since moving Millie in with Pickles and Amos - I have both bottle and bowl so all will be having what they're used to.

Re: Water bowl

How much is it normal for a bunny to drink???

Since putting the bowl in squeakles is drinking 2-3 bowls a day! He is being so good and not tipping it over, did wake me at 2am today tho thumping in his cage, went down to see what had frightened him nd his bowl was empty....filled it up and never heard a peep from him all night!!!!!!!

Re: Water bowl

in hot weather mine are drinking nearly 200ml each a day, the rest of the year they might only drink 50ml between them. Mine drink less when they have had quite a bit of veg too.

excessive drinking can be a sign of kidney problems.

Re: Water bowl

I give my lot and big heavy dog bowl for their water and give them a bottle just in case. I've found that when it's been really hot they have either drunk all the water or it's evaporated during the time I've been out at work and they will drink from the bottle when the bowl is dry. They definitely prefer the bowl though.

Re: Water bowl

I have a couple of the 1 litre refilling bowls(dont know the proper name) and a litre water bottle, my 7 get through at least 1 1/2 of those a day at the moment.
I use another 1 litre bottle to take the water out to refill the bowls and the water bottles that the guineas have and I usually take 2 of those out a day.
