Making up for the past :-(

I don't know why I'm telling you guys this as I might just face a backlash but it bothers me so much I need to share it.
Years ago I used to breed Netherland Dwarfs, chinchilla colour and REW's to show. I was quite successful at national level with them. I knew the breed standard and stuck to it. All rabbits had a good diet, hutches 4ft x 2ft which I know is not the RSPCA recommended size but for a ND it's not so bad. They were clean, vaccinated, worked ect but would only get time in the run about twice a month. I feel awful about this. Suppose I was so busy concentrating on cleanliness and showing I just didn't consider their exercise time. I feel so bad about it when I think back now.
Also I bred quite s few litters and generally only one per litter would be kept. I always found good homes for them but when I think back now just how many rabbits are in rescue centres I just know I added to that one way or another. They could have rescued a rabbit rather than get one from me.
Don't know why I feel the need to "confess" all this but when I think back, poor bunnies!!
Hence my one and only pet rabbit I have now is as spoilt as I can make him. Trying to make up for being a rubbish bunny mummy in the past.
Please don't hate me. I wad just so naive and didn't consider enough

And in all that I forgot to post my original point!! Doh!
I was going to say to people to just consider the amount of rabbits they are bringing in to the world when there are so many already needing homes.

Don't feel bad, I'm also an ex breeder (although a recent accidental litter has arose) and plan to neuter and bond my 3 ex breeders and let them live happy in a 10 x 10 shed
It's a learning curve x

Re: Making up for the past :-(

i find nethies need more space they're such active little monkeys! We all make mistakes, as a child i had two does that did have a huge avairy byt we didnt spay them and overfed them. We had both pts with flystrike despite daily bottom baths thinking back now its awful to think how ignorant we were, having said that the vets hadnt given us appropriate advice, think thats part of the problem.
