Advice on finding a friend for my rabbit

Hi, can anyone advise how to go about finding a friend he'll get on with? I worry about any fights while trying to bond them. I know about neutral territory but what else? He is a 2 and half year old buck who was neutered a year ago. Would you try buck or doe friend? Or is it hit and miss?
Do they get on with some rabbits and not others or is it a case of if he won't accept the first one we try then he may not accept any?
Any help?

Re: Advice on finding a friend for my rabbit

I think your best bet is to find to find a neutered doe around the same age. A rescue would be a good idea as they usually neuter them before rehoming. Its great that you are going to find him a friend as they do love the company once bonded.

Re: Advice on finding a friend for my rabbit

My local RSPCA are reluctant to let me take him in in case there is a fight. Do they end up getting along in the end usually? I worry that if I just got another without seeing how they react first that they may not ever get on. :-(
Would I put them together (neutral ground) and just keep an eye on them or would I do it in stages? Ie an hour at a time or something?
Really need any advice you can give.

A spayed female would be the best partner for your bunny.

Perhaps ask on here if anyone (like a small rescue) could help with bonding/bunny dating for you.

Scrap the RSPCA! Seriously there are better rabbit rescues out there. I have a friend who works for our local one and she has told us they are handling them roughly!

Yes finding a neutered female! Where abouts in the country are you (approx I mean!)...people might know of local rescues who will help you bond them!
