Alan pulling out Lotties fur

I've noticed that when Alan grooms Lottie he starts off normally giving her licks and things but then he'll start nibbling deep into her fur and then rips out a massive chunk! Lottie lets him groom her but when he pulls a chunk out she'll then move away from him but I just don't get why he's doing it. He's not doing it nastily its almost as though thats how he thinks you should groom but her fur is getting thin in places now cos he keeps pulling chunks out.

Does anyone know why he might be doing this? Could she have something wrong with her fur/skin that he's just trying to fix for her?

Got to take them to the vets next week anyway but thought I'd ask in case someone knows why he could be doing this

My two seem to over groom a little - Dusty has a baldy patch behind her neck from Willow. But then again Dusty still jumps on Willow's back and rides her still!

Re: Alan pulling out Lotties fur

I took them to the vet on Saturday as they are due for their jabs anyway. Lottie is quite flakey so she thinks it is mites and has given me treatment. She said if that doesn't stop the problem then it is probably Alan trying to be dominant over her but I don't think this is the case as he doesn't do it at all aggresively and doesn't try to mount her or anything.

She gave Lottie a full health check and she is in perfect health she attempted to give Alan a full health check but after he went beserk and kicked and scratched me when she tried to check his teeth we decided he was definately healthy!! She loved Alans thick winter coat and said "he has such bright eyes!"

fingers crossed the mite treatment will fix the problem, I haven't put it on yet as I didn't want it to react with the area the myxi jab went in. will put it on them tonight I think

Good luck! Just been saying on a separate thread that Dusty is taking Willow's fur out again!

I love Alan and Lottie! x
