Our new baby bunny:)

We have 3 rabbuts, 1 male and 2 females. Our male has had the snip, our females haven't as yet. Is it vital the females are neuted?

Our new baby Snowy is 10 weeks old, he is adorable. I said we wouldn't get another rabbit after we lost our 4month old Buttercup to EC last month. It devastated us all, but I saw Snowy today in Pets at Home when I went to buy some rabbit treats and I just was struck with love, lol!!

The lady at the store said we should keep him indoors for now, anyone know how long for? Could we eventually mix him with our other male or could they fight?

Re: Our new baby bunny:)

It is recommended that both sexes of rabbits are neutered because females that are kept entire have a 80% chance of contracting uterine cancer.

I suppose the store owner said to keep him indoors because it's getting colder now and he doesn't have his winter coat to keep him warm. I got my rabbits in September 3 years ago and they went outside straight away, but it seems to be very cold now, so it's your choice whether you keep him indoors or not. If you decide to keep him indoors, he'll have to stay inside until the spring (around April time) when it warms up as he wouldn't have built up his winter coat.

I would recommend neutering him when he's old enough to make it easier to bond to your male.

Re: Our new baby bunny:)

Have you treated your remaining buns with panacur?

I think its a 28 day course (you'll have to treat your newbie as well).

Yeah it is a 28 day course, and you need to bleach their enclosures on day 21 & 28

Also I agree with Seven Pets, it would be better to get your females neutered as it will not only stop the chance of uterine cancer, also if you don't you will have 2 very frustrated females that might bother your male to much, which could lead to a fight.

Whe it comes to putting them outside I think now is going to be your last chance for this year, as Seven pets said if you keep them in they will have to stay in until at least April

The new rabbit is in a seperate hutch, and will stay there until he is snipped too. We are also giving him his first course of panacur.

We treated all our rabbits for the full course advised by the vet with the panacur, after our bunny Buttercup was diagnosed.

Yes the hutches were bleached and our newbie is seperated from the other buns, as he has to be snipped before we can mix them with the girls

We treated all the buns with the panacur after our poor little girl was diagnosed with EC.

Thanks for your help.
