Question VHD incoulation and side effects

We had the buns inoculated against VHD yesterday and today one bun is holding her front paw as though she has hurt it.

I read elsewhere that this could be due to a side effect of the vaccine but this should go within 48hours. Has anyone else noticed this?

I was all set to go to the vets and did ring them. The advice was to check they are eating ok (and they are but a bit quiet after the jab) and see how they are in the morning.

Hopefully bun will be back to normal in the morning.

Re: VHD incoulation and side effects

It could be a reaction to the vaccine. Did she have a Cylap VHD vaccine? Next time they are vaccinated, ask for the Lapinject vaccination as it has far fewer reactions than the Cylap. The Cylap can have as many as 50% of rabbits reacting to it.

Thanks Sevenpets - yes it was Cylap. I did mention the other type but they don't use it. I will have a chat with them.

Re: VHD incoulation and side effects

Hope your rabs are ok. Our little one is now back to normal and the paw problem has resolved itself. I sent our vets some info from the internet - no reply so far but I will discuss it with them.

They are a bit quiet for a day or two but have both come round again.

Let me know how you got on and how your buns are.
