Can anyone give me Myxi advice please?

I have someone who's bun has a swollen ear/eyes in contact with me, they have been to the emergency vets and the vet see a bite in the ear and has said its a reaction to the bite.
Im not 100% convinced, the bun hasnt had myxi jab and the pic ive seen looks very much like a myxi bun.
My question is.... In 1st stages would the bun eat quite normally and have moments of energy and act normal?

When Molly had myxi I had absolutely no idea that was what was wrong. She was acting completely normally - it was only the sore on her nose that made me take her to the vet. It was a while ago now but I think only one of her eyes was affected. I still have her - she recovered completely

Did she have the myxi jab before hand?

Re: Can anyone give me Myxi advice please?

That does look a lot more like myxi than a reaction to a bite to me. I would tell this person to get her to a rabbit savy vet asap if she is to stand a chance. As it is with not being vaccinated her chances are very slim so she needs everything she can get to help her get over it.

I hate to say it, but that looks a lot like myxi to me
And as Kammie has said as she isn't vaccinated her chances are extremely slim

Re: Can anyone give me Myxi advice please?

frags - if you go on vampirelust's website she has a picture story of when one of her buns got myxi, as upsetting as it is you could compare photos maybe?

I have seen what bite can do to a rabbit but from what i have seen of myxi that doesnt look too good.

hope there is some good news for the little bunnicle tomorrow x

That looks very much like how Prince looked when he contracted myxi last year- his vaccs were up to date yet he still caught it & died

Yeah it does look like it hun...

When Pepsi was initially ill his eyes swelled up and I thought he was having a reaction to something as he was perfectly fine otherwise.. even when he was real bad he had periods where he acted fine which was my main reason for not PTS

another sign is swollen genitals, if it is the strain Pepsi had there are no lumps, the next stage usually will be snuffles/sneezing, possible swelling in the ear and a build up of wax than can make the ears drop (As you can tell, I did A LOT of reading on it, into the early hours)

ETA: re read you post, if the bun is un vacc'd it will more than likely not make it
