Re: Can anyone give me Myxi advice please?

I'd never had Molly vaccinated but I am not sure if the rescue did before I homed her. I'm fairly sure her daughter wasn't done as she was very young when I took her home (with a sibling and her Mum). All three survived the myxi but it took almost daily vet visits and was a struggle.

I had five buns with myxi and all survived although two did die later that year so it could have weakened their immune system. None had had recent vaccinations, if any at all, as I was ignorant of how myxi was transmitted back then

Now, all my eight buns get their vaccinations regularly. I never want my buns or I to go through that again. It was tough.

Bit late to respond, but I would say myxi

The kindest thing you can do if unvaccinated, is PTS

Re: Can anyone give me Myxi advice please?

It's not always necessary to PTS unvaccinated buns. My five all survived and I hadn't had them vaccinated. Some may have been done before I rehomed them but the eldest certainly wouldn't have been done for some years - and he got through myxi and is still happily bouncing around now.

I would give the buns a chance. I'm glad I did. Two did die later in that year possibly because their immune system had been compromised but one of those, my gorgeous Daisy, had always been poorly anyway (dental bun, eye and tumours removed).

My vet was surprised my buns got through myxi. I still feel guilty they hadn't been vaccinated (through my ignorance). All my eight get their jabs religiously now, although I know vaccinated buns can still catch myxi.
