Re: How do you Bond Rabbits??

is she spayed? and what sex is the other rabbit? rabbits need to bonded on neutral ground, such as a bathroom or a bedroom if the original rabbit hasn't been there before.

I made sure all of my bonded rabbits were neutered/spayed before I even attempted to put them togther. I then started it gradually by putting them together in a small pet carrier and sat stroking them both whilst I watched TV and 'jiggled' the carrier about a bit and they would huddle together for reasurance (i've heard of some people taking them a ride in the car for the same effect).
Once you can leave them together for a short while without fighting put them in a slightly larger carrier/run and build up in size. I kept a spray water bottle handy and if they attempted to fight gave a short sharp squirt of water. This would then encourage them to wash which is a social activity which also helped them to bond. Build up the time they spend together gradually. it will all depend on theie personality to how long it will take. I have had pairs that hit it off striaght away and others that took longer !

I currently have a bonded trio and a bonded four !

That would have been territorial behaviour, you must make sure that you only introduce on completely neutral ground and make sure you put the least dominant rabbit in first.
I used my bathroom for my bonds as it was easy to keep an eye on them during the process. I also used grooming wipes on all the buns before bonding as this encourages mutual grooming.
Make sure you don't increase their space before they are ready as this can cause them to fight, also make sure that their enclosure is completely cleaned out and washed down with white wine vinegar. Also make sure you don't separate the rabbits for any time during bonding as this will mean you have to start from scratch again, even if you need to go to the vets make sure they both come with you so that they both smell the same and don't "forget" each other (yes rabbits are that fickle lol)

I think that is everything that I can remember for now so good luck

Re: How do you Bond Rabbits??

You could go to a local rescue and get them to bond her with an already neutered male, have a look here Rabbit Rehome - Adopt an unwanted bunny from a rescue centre theres also an 'in need' section on the forum full of bunnies looking for homes I have bonded several pairs and two groups of four, id say neutral small space to start with, car rides in a neutral carrier and try not to seperate them after you start, the trick is to intervene if things get a little heated so you allow them to sort themselves out and bond but not to fight. After they are bonded never seperate them, it breaks bonds.
