Big enough for 2?

6 ft X 4 ft X 2 ft rabbit run which I was planning on putting a shelter in. I will keep her indoor cage for when it gets really cold in the winter. Is this big enough for 2 or just one rabbit as I was considering adopting a male in 3 months after Patches has been spayed. I just don't feel she's getting enough excersise being a house bun as our puppy is too mouthy and I worry he might hurt her so have only been able to take her outside and give her free run for a few hours a day and this isn't fair on her so I'm planning on getting her this run as we just got paid. I might bring her in at night as I'm not sure if I should leave her out there at night time as it gets cold.

Re: Big enough for 2?

If you plan to keep her outside, she must be outside at all times. If you bring her indoors, her body temperature won't be able to cope and adjust between cold and hot. My rabbits do very well in the winter, even when it is below zero. I give mine a hot water pad (specially designed for pets) which keeps them warm and I cover up the hutch at night too to keep any warmth in.

A 6ft x 4ft x 2ft run is a good size for 2 rabbits. Are they small-medium sized rabbits?

I agree with putting them outside in your situation. I wouldn't be able to have my two indoors either, because they wouldn't get enough space or time to run around as they do outdoors.

Re: Big enough for 2?

I don't know how big Patches will grow or what breed she is to be honest.. she looks like the rabbit in this picture Rabbit | Pets at Home admittedly I got her from pets at home which I feel guilty about but she has a lovely personality and when I saw her I couldn't leave her there (I went to buy cat food and we'd been planning a bun for ages).

looks like a dutch cross. she shouldn't grow too big and the run will be a good size for her. Are you planning on getting another then?

Re: Big enough for 2?

Yes but not untill she's spayed and I'm planning on going to a rescue and seeing if I can bond a male with her if hubby will let me. He wants me to downsize on my fish tanks first.

Edit: He's disgruntled because he wants ferits

Re: Big enough for 2?

a hutch or run should really be 2.5 ft high, but they higher the better they love to stretch and jump. the rspca recommend a 6ft by 6ft run, I'm sure u have seen how much patches can run so the bigger the better.

can you not put up a baby gate so she can have 1 room and the dog another?
