Re: Update on Lym bunnies including couple of pics...
Furby is a very nervous bun indeed. I've never seen one so terrified. He isn't eating much either. I've got him some Wagg food as this is what he is used to and he has picked out some bits of this. He won't touch excel or SS. He has eaten around a carrot, leaving a 'core', but hasn't touched the tops. He will eat dandelion leaves but not grass and has nibbled a very tiny piece of apple. He loves fenucreek crunchies but not carrot treats. At the moment if he will eat it, I give it to him as I want him to start some serious nomming. I don't think he has seen much variety of food.
I think he is eating hay as there was less hay in the box than when I filled it up.
He is off to the vet on Friday morning to be registered, checked over and hopefully his myxi jab given. I don't think he has ever been out of the tiny hutch he was in as he seems agoraphobic. Once my vet has checked his muscles hopefully we can work out a rehabilitation programme for him.
I have mostly just left him alone to settle in, with regular checks to make sure he is OK. He is in a run in my lounge with a carrier in and he hides in there after a while when I stroke him. He has started to come out again though so I think he does want to be friends but is very unsure.
It's going to take a lot of time but hopefully with patience and lots of TLC he will grow in confidence.
I am so hoping that there is nothing wrong with him healthwise. I've checked his ears and can't see any mites. He has a nice clean bottom - and is producing droppings, albeit very tiny ones, so his gut is working OK. He has eaten carrot so hopefully his teeth are OK at the moment.
He isn't drinking much. I tried putting a bowl in his run but he kept knocking it over so I've given him a bottle but very little is being drunk. I will see if I can find a heavier bowl - maybe one of my cat bowls.
I have fallen totally in love with him - just wish he felt the same about me. He doesn't bite or scratch - just freezes when I stroke him. Poor darling.
He needs neutering but I am going to wait until he is stronger. My vet goes away for three weeks the week after next and I want him to do it, not a locum.
Will go and check on Furby now and then kiss him goodnight (he tolerates that) and turn the lights out for him. I'll probably leave him a couple of fenucreek crunchies too. He really is an adorable bun and I am so pleased I was allowed to give him a home and that Helen chose such a sweetie for me.
Vibes for Friday morning would be appreciated if anyone has any to spare please? He will be very traumatised going to the vet and I hope he doesn't have a long term problem and have to keep going back.
