Advise on turning Normie from a house bunny into garden bunny!
Hi Guys
Long time no speak – for those of you that still remember me and Normie? Maybe none of you do….LOL.
Its been about a year since I was last actively on forum, sorry…life gets busy. Normie is over 1 year old now and doing very well.
The reason for my sudden re appearance is to ask some advise.
I have been considering putting Normie outside for a little while because he has taken quite a liking to my curtains and skirting boards but I have never had the motivation to do it. I am thinking now might be the perfect opportunity because my OH is wavering on letting me have a dog(only been 4 years) and I would just not trust a dog and rabbit in the same space….it only takes 1 bite (even a playful one).
I don’t want this to look like I am putting Normie 2nd to a doggie, I luffs my babbit… but he is rather cheeky, destructive and malts for England so I have been fighting with myself for ages whether I should just do it.
The plan would be to get him a girlfriend to bond to and he would be getting a shed right outside the backdoor instead of a hutch as he is used to the space he gets in the house.
What I need to know is….would it be better to get him a girlfriend while he is still a house bunny and bond them OR do I move him first and then look for a female?
Im thinking the first one would be the better option but my OH would probs have a heart attack with 2 rabbits running in the house LOL….and how long does the bonding process normally take? I know some rabbits will bond instantly, some wont, but when is a safe timeframe to feel secure to leave them alone together if they seem to be getting along.
Also in the winter would a shed be suitable enough when it is very cold…we do have a garage it just might need abit of cleaning out! x
